Fertility
I can treat you at whichever stage of the fertility journey you are at. Perhaps you are just thinking of trying for a baby and want to be in optimum condition, or you are concerned because you have been trying to conceive for a long time. Maybe you are looking for natural solutions to help boost your chances of conceiving, or you want support whilst going through IVF. Receiving an Acupuncture session could be of benefit to you in althea situations.
I have had personal experience of fertility issues, having myself suffered recurrent miscarriages. This led me into detailed research into all aspects of miscarriage and pregnancy. As a result of my research, I used various natural methods, including acupuncture, subsequently giving birth to a beautiful baby girl in August 2013. This gives me great empathy with those who are also struggling with their own fertility and pregnancy issues and am passionate about sharing and helping those who are going through similar experiences.
I have done several extra courses in Fertility acupuncture, most recently gaining a qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with Dr Trevor Wing. He is a highly revered clinician, researcher and lecturer, a qualified medical doctor and also a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Naturopath. Through participation in his in-depth course I gained a great deal knowledge about the latest developments and research into Fertility and Gynaecological issues.
When you come in to see me I will do a detailed consultation to look at all aspects of why you may be finding it difficult to conceive and I will also look at your lifestyle, your diet and ways to reduce stress.
Pregnancy
Acupuncture is an ideal treatment for pregnancy as it offers a safe, gentle, drug -free solution for a wide variety of conditions that may occur at this time. Conditions that can be treated in pregnancy include prevention of Miscarriage, Nausea, High blood pressure, Oedema, Headaches, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Digestive problems, Heart Burn, Anxiety and Depression, back pain, SPD and Itching. If your baby is breech I can give a traditional treatment using moxa, which can improve your chances of turning a breech baby. From 36 weeks it is also recommended to have Acupuncture to help prepare for an efficient natural labour. In addition, I can teach Acupressure points to the mother and birth partner in preparation for labour, which will help involve the father in the birthing process and has been shown to reduce pain, shorten labour and calm nerves.
I can combine acupuncture with Massage or Shiatsu, or can offer these as stand alone treatments.
The Post -natal period
In the East they have a month after the birth which they call the golden month when the mother rests in bed and only looks after the baby whilst everyone else looks after her! In Chinese Medicine they believe that many chronic diseases can be cured if the mother is looked after properly in her ‘golden month’. So why not come for a treatment to help nurture yourself at this challenging time! Mother Warming is a treatment using moxa, usually 4-6 days after the birth, which helps the new mother have more energy and feel rejuvenated and is a great way to gently aid recovery from childbirth and restore energy. And there are many benefits to receiving acupuncture postnatally, helping with conditions such as mastitis, back pain, urinary stress incontinence, depression and anxiety.
Menopause
Peri-menopause and menopause are a time of change and transformation from one stage of your life to the next . But it doesn’t always have to be a negative experience. Come and receive an Acupuncture session with Anna to help you glide more smoothly through this time of transition and to bring your body back into balance. Acupuncture can be great at alleviating some of the negative effects that some women experience at this time, from night sweats, to mood swings, anxiety and insomnia. You don’t already have to be in menopause to benefit from a treatment. If you are in your late 30’s and 40’s it is also a good time to start preparing your body so that you have an easier menopause when the time comes.
Women’s health
Receiving Acupuncture can improve and regulate your menstrual cycle, reduce painful periods and alleviate PMT. It has also been proved that it can help with a variety of gynaecological conditions such as anovulation and PCOS.
Painful conditions
Acupuncture, Shiatsu and Massage can be used to help relieve a variety of painful conditions , including back ache, injuries, knee pain, elbow pain or tension in the neck and shoulders headaches and migraines. I can also offer a combination treatment, using both acupuncture and my skills in massage and Shiatsu to help fix your pain.
Digestive conditions
If you have been diagnosed with a condition such as IBS or heart burn, you may have been told by the doctor there is not much that can be done about the problem, or perhaps given medication which just suppresses the problem rather than getting to the root cause. Acupuncture and Shiatsu are both great tools which can be used to help bring body back into balance and alleviate your symptoms.
Anxiety, Depression and Insomnia and Stress
Are you suffering fro stress? Do you suffer with anxiety or depression? I believe there is a place for medication and most definitely talking therapies, certainly in more severe cases of anxiety and depression, but I have also witnessed personally how beneficial receiving acupuncture can be to help to alleviate these conditions. There is a strong link between mind and body which is a belief fundamental to oriental medicine. By receiving one of the treatments I offer, the stress and tension we are holding in the body can be moved, which in turn can help our minds, alleviating anxiety, helping us sleep and bringing us back into a more balanced state.
